Next Friday, July 3 will be observed as part of the Fourth of July holiday by state and local governmental municipalities, but not federal offices.

The Shelby and San Augustine County Courthouses will be closed July 3, as will city offices in the area.

Not taking the holiday next Friday will be the post office and banks, they'll be open for business as usual.

A number of locally-owned businesses will begin their Fourth of July celebrations early by being closed July 3 as well since the 4th falls on a Saturday.
