Focus on Texas Way healthcare coverage at Nacogdoches County Chamber meeting, June 26

NACOGDOCHES, TX – Attend the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Fourth

Friday Luncheon presented by Urgent Doc - Urgent Care Clinic, noon to 1 p.m., Friday, June 26 at Austin Hall, 4603 North St.

Speakers Kinnie Douglas Reina, MPH, CHES,  Director of Community Health at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, and Clay Farell, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer at Nacogdoches Medical Center, will present "Nacogdoches Healthcare Update:  Exploring Alternatives for Healthcare Coverage" at the meeting.

"Texas is opposed to taking federal funds for Medicaid expansion to the uninsured," Farell said. "But momentum may be shifting towards a bi-partisan 'Texas Way' that everyone can support."

The information to be presented is vital for all local businesses.

"Those who attend this luncheon will become familiar with the issues that the underinsured population faces, the current healthcare environment and future plans for improved access to care," Douglas Reina said.

As Director for the Community Health Education Department at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, Douglas Reina's duties include conducting health education events and addressing community health needs in Nacogdoches County. She currently serves on several local collaborative groups including the Nacogdoches Advisory Board for the Rural East Texas Health Network; and facilitates strategic planning with the Healthy Nacogdoches Coalition. She received her Bachelor degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and has a Master of Public Health from University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Her prior public health experience includes working with the Piney Woods Area Health Education Center and the Texas Department of
State Health Services.

Farell joined Nacogdoches Medical Center in March 2010 as Director of Business Development. In June 2013 he was appointed as C.O.O.  Prior to moving to Nacogdoches, Farell worked at the Tenet home office in corporate business development. He previously served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Farell received an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a BS from the United States Air Force Academy, and he is a
Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

The luncheon serves as the Chamber’s monthly membership meeting. Attend and stay on top of what is going on at the Chamber and around town.
