April rainfall over 9 inches, more than doubles monthly average

Just how wet was the month of April in Center? Well, official weather observer Jim Forbes tells us we more than doubled the average monthly rainfall as he recorded 9.35 inches of rain this month when our average is only 4.16 inches.

For the year-to-date, Forbes said 29.33 inches has fallen, with the average year-to-date amount 18.16 inches, putting us in pretty good shape heading into the late spring.

The month also saw a varying temperature extreme as the high for April was 89 degrees on the 25th and the low was 48 degrees on April 11 and yesterday, the 29th.

It would be good to hold onto that above average rainfall through the coming mid-year months, but we know how dry and hot it can be in these parts during the summer.

We should dry out some through the remainder of the week as we’re expecting sunny days with highs around 80 degrees.
