San Augustine Main Street preparing for "A Texas Treasure Heritage Festival" on May 2

San Augustine Main Street will host “A Texas Treasure Heritage Festival” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in downtown San Augustine.

 

he festival celebrates memories and remnants of the many heritages that contribute to the culture of San Augustine and East Texas.

 

The San Augustine Farmer’s Market season will also kickoff on the south side of the courthouse with local grown produce and homemade goods.

 

There will be various entertainers and an antique and classic car show.

 

Festival goers may watch various food demos, and the pinto bean cook-off judging will be at 10 a.m. at the “Bean Gazebo,” on the west side of the San Augustine courthouse. Bring one pound of pinto beans in a crock pot and one pan of cornbread to the gazebo between 8 and 10 a.m. Entry fee is $5. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

 

All proceeds will benefit the community through the continued efforts to beautify and promote downtown.
