Weather Update: Deep East Texas could see 3+ inches of rain Friday thru Sunday

The Low pressure front has stalled almost right over Deep East Texas. This is causing significant moisture to override the front. That movement of upper air will focus today and tonight in the North of IH 20 zone into the Ark, La, Ok, Tx four corners region where they could see 2+ inches of rain tomorrow.  Heavier rains will be in that area on Saturday and Sunday with a 3 day total of as much as 5+ inches of rain.  Heavy downpours, t-storms, lightning are expected with this event in this area of emphasis. That will definitely impact travel in all aspects...

 

Here in Deep East Texas we will see additional flooding with our expected 3+ inches of rain over the same 3 day period of time.  No real organized T-storms in our area, but there could be a few isolated heavier convection areas that could produce a T-storm with some lightning. Our evening temps will remain above normal due to the cloud cover and rain soaked grounds.

 

Sunday will bring a dry and clearing conditions from the West to the East.  It will bring warm and sunny skies through Wednesday evening of next week.  The current view is for Thursday, the 26th to bring another round of rain.


Drought conditions are easing over many parts of Texas.
