San Augustine City Council begins process of finding a manager replacement

The San Augustine City Council is searching for a city manager to replace the late Bruce Milstead, who passed away suddenly in January.

Mayor Leroy Hughes tells us the city council began reviewing resumes at Tuesday's meeting and will be reaching out to whom they feel are viable candidates by asking for applications.

Mayor Hughes says they received 23 resumes and feels the city council could start interviewing within the next month. He says there's no timeline for selecting a replacement.

San Augustine Council also rejected the one bid received for replacing the Waste Water facility building due to overbidding. The structure was damaged in 2008's hurricane.

The bid for power pole replacement was accepted for $86,000. Mayor Hughes says around 29 poles need to be replaced due to age.
