Basketball Playoffs:

 

Girls' Class 2A Region III Semi-finals:

 

Shelbyville Lady Dragons vs. LaPoynor, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jewett Leon ISD. The address for Leon High School is 12168 Highway 79 West, Jewett, TX 75846

 

Evadale vs. Hubbard, 5 p.m. Friday, Jewett Leon ISD

 

Winners meet for Region III Final @ 2 p.m. Saturday @ Jewett Leon ISD. Winner advances to state tournament.

 

Boys' Area Championships:

 

Center Roughriders vs. Mexia, 7 p.m., Friday, Jacksonville. The winner will play the Henderson-Palestine winner in the region quarterfinals.

 

Double-header:

 

Good duo of boys' area championship games in Joaquin Friday night pitting Dist. 22-2A against Dist. 23-2A:

 

Shelbyville Dragons vs. West Sabine, 6:30 p.m. The winner gets the Dallardsville Big Sandy-Carlisle winner in the region quarterfinals.

 

Tenaha Tigers vs. San Augustine Wolves, 8 p.m. The winner plays the New Summerfield-Evadale winner in the third round.

 

Baseball:

 

The Center Riders’ games in the Palestine Tournament have been delayed and moved up a day until Friday. The Riders play at 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at Elkhart on Friday and on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Elkhart and 7 p.m. in Palestine

 

The Rider JV is scheduled to start play in the Central Heights’ Tournament today, with games at 1:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

 

It was announced Wednesday that all games at the Pine Cone Classic Baseball Tournament in Hemphill today have been cancelled. The remainder of the tournament games Friday and Saturday are pending. Among the teams scheduled to play in the classic are the Shelbyville Dragons, Joaquin Rams, Timpson Bears and Broaddus Bulldogs.

 

Same thing goes for the Douglass Tournament today, as all games have been cancelled. The Shelbyville Dragon JV and Joaquin Ram JV are to play in that tourney.

 

The Garrison Bulldogs are scheduled to be in the Elkhart Tournament starting today.

 

Softball:

 

The Center Lady Riders defeat Central Heights, 6-3 Tuesday.

 

The Center Lady Riders, Joaquin Lady Rams and Shelbyville Lady Dragons are all scheduled to play in the Cushing/Central Heights' Tournament, weather permitting today thru Saturday.

 

The Garrison Lady Bulldogs are to play in the Trinity Tournament.

 

Tennis:

 

The Center JV Tennis team was to have played in the Nacogdoches JV tennis tournament today, but it has been cancelled. Therefore, the Varsity tennis tournament in Nacogdoches has been moved from Friday to today, Thursday due to the extended forecast. Center High School Tennis will begin play by 9 a.m. today in Nacogdoches.

 

Soccer:

 

The Center Riders and Lady Riders will be home to play Diboll Friday.

 

The Tenaha Lady Tigers' soccer team will finish the season with a small school tournament hosted by New Summerfield. The first game is against New Summerfield, Friday morning at 8:00 am, followed by a 12:00 game vs.  Robert E. Lee JV at Jacksonville College.  The final game of the season will be Saturday at 1:00 vs. the Crockett Lady Bulldogs at Jacksonville College.

 

SFA Athletics and the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce have teamed up again with Cram the Coliseum, an event designed to bring more from the community to Lumberjack and Ladyjack basketball games. Free admission tickets are available for Ladyjack and Lumberjack games on March 5 and 7. The tickets come 10 to a page and are available at the Nacogdoches County Chamber, 2516 North St., and online at nacogdoches.org in Hot New. Tickets can be used for entrance to the following Ladyjack and Lumberjack basketball games:  Cram the Coliseum - Thursday, March 5, SFA vs. Northwestern State, Ladyjacks begin at 5:30 p.m. and Lumberjacks at 8 p.m.; and Cram the Coliseum 2 - Saturday, March 7, SFA vs. Sam Houston State, Ladyjacks begin at 4 p.m. and Lumberjacks at 6 p.m. All games will be in William R. Johnson Coliseum.

 

The second annual Great East Texas Outdoorfest is just around the corner. The event is slated for Friday, March 6, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A concert will follow Saturday’s events. Gates for concert open at 6 p.m. All events are to be held at the Sabine County Rodeo Arena. During the two day event there will be live music, entertainment, food, fun, vendors, silent and live auctions. Lots of raffle prizes will be drawn for, with the grand prize being a pontoon boat. Tickets are available at getoutdoorsfest.com or they can be purchased during the event.
