Nacogdoches City Council says "YES" to return of public prayers at meetings

The Nacogdoches City Council has returned public prayer to their bimonthly meetings after a unanimous decision by council members last night.

After seeking opinions from legal counsel, Texas Municipal League and the Liberty Institute, the decision was met with public approval.

Some of the prayer guidelines for the council are that prayer shall not be listed or recognized as an agenda item, no member or employee of the council or any other person in attendance shall be required to participate in any prayer, and the prayer shall be voluntarily delivered by one council member, scheduled on a rotating basis among all council members who choose to participate.
