A Shelbyville High School senior is one step closer to seeing a life-long dream become reality as Amy Permenter has qualified for the Miss Texas USA Pageant later this year.

Amy competed in the Miss Lufkin Pageant last Saturday, winning her age division and title of supreme queen overall with the highest scores. This qualified her for the state-wide event to be held in Houston in September.

The 18-year old has already been accepted into the Miss Texas USA program, and according to her mother, Lynette Permenter, it’s just a matter of practice, studying current events and other preparation.

Ms. Permenter added her daughter has been in pageants since she was in the fifth grade, and is a very determined young lady.

She said Amy appreciates all the support from family, friends and community.

Amy’s parents are Wesley and Lynette Permenter of Shelbyville.
