Center ISD Trustees vote to deny relief requested in Level III Parent Complaint, new football offensive coordinator hired

The Center ISD Board of Trustees voted to uphold the administration's decision after hearing a presentation of a Level III Parent Complaint at last Thursday night's meeting.

According to Center ISD Superintendent Dr. James Hockenberry, the issue involved Linda Lopez's daughter being suspended from the Center High School cheerleading squad due to demerits.

The relief sought by Ms. Lopez is not known.

Board also received an update on the Athletic Facilities' Committee, which has organized and is expected to have their first meeting this week. Dr. Hockenberry said a deadline for filing a report and making recommendations to trustees is April 16.

In personnel, Center ISD AD and Head Football Coach Barry Bowman has a new offensive coordinator as Ricky Meeks was hired. Meeks was on-staff at Henderson when they won a state championship a few years ago, and comes to Center from Pittsburgh ISD.

Also, Jennifer Moon was hired as a Center Middle School teacher.

Dr. Hockenberry’s evaluation process was also initiated by the board.
