Local Sports Round up 12/23/14; Riders sweep Hallsville, San Augustine upended by #3 Martins Mill

It was a good trip to Hallsville Monday for the Center Roughriders as all three teams picked up wins. The Freshmen take a 58-42 decision, the JV get the best of Hallsville, 58-49, and the varsity Riders come away with a 78-50 victory.

The Riders will resume action after the holiday break on Jan. 2 at Nacogdoches.

 

The Class 2A #14 state-ranked San Augustine Wolves hosted Class 2A #3 state-ranked Martins Mill last night, and Martins Mill takes a 73-66 win over the Wolves. San Augustine will be playing in the Tenaha Holiday Hoops Tournament next Monday thru Wednesday.

 

The Joaquin Lady Rams get a 38-27 win over Brookeland last night. Joaquin will be playing in the Tenaha Holiday Hoops tourney as well.

 

The Tenaha ISD will host the 6th annual Holiday Hoops Scholarship Classic December 29, 30, and 31. Forty of the state’s top boys and girls Class 1A, 2A, and 3A programs will descend upon Tenaha for an opportunity to battle it out on the hardwood for what has become one of Texas’ top invitational tournament trophies. The tourney will include 71 games over three days being played in Tenaha, Gary, Joaquin and Carthage. Games tip-off at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29.
