Tonight’s a big night of celebrating the Christmas season and dedication of the new city park in Tenaha starting at 6 p.m.

According to Tenaha Beautification & Events Committee Chairperson Claudine Howard, the Tenaha on the Square event will include the official unveiling of McNeill City Park, located downtown, followed by refreshments, an appearance by Santa, a time for kids to visit with St. Nick and other entertainment.

Ms. Howard said the Tenaha square is lighted and decorated for Christmas and the committee is hoping for a real festive evening.

She added there's been a lot of work, personal donations and volunteer efforts in the past year-and-a-half since the Tenaha Beautification & Events Committee got started.

Ms. Howard said Factory Direct Portable Buildings in Timpson donated use of the Santa building for the occasion.

Ms. Howard is very active in the Tenaha community, where she also serves on the city council as mayor pro-tem and was recently named Tenaha Businessmen's Club "Citizen of the Year" for the second year in-a-row.
