UPDATE: Woman arrested at Center business on Illinois' warrant for theft of funds

A Center woman wanted by Illinois authorities was taken into custody in Shelby County at her place of employment Wednesday.

According to Sheriff Willis Blackwell, 53-year old Donna Evans of Center was arrested by Deputy Jim Ed Mathews at her downtown Center workplace just before 3 p.m.

Sheriff Blackwell said he was contacted by DeWitt County, Illinois Sheriff's Chief Deputy Mike Walker in reference to a wanted person living in Shelby County.

Shelby County Deputy Roy Bailey went to the address given by Illinois' authorities on County Road 2572, in the McClelland Community, south of Shelbyville, and spoke with Evans' boyfriend, who advised she was at work. In hopes of not tipping off Evans while Bailey was at the residence, Deputy Mathews arrived at the business and arrested Evans on a warrant of Theft of over $10,000 and Official Misconduct.

Evans is to be extradite back to Illinois

We understand Evans served as the village treasurer of Farmer City, Illinois and the warrant resulted from a year-long investigation into the theft of funds.
