Shelby County Outreach Ministries needs increase during winter months, Angel Trees are available now

The Shelby County Outreach Ministries helps those that are in need all through the year, but during the winter months the needs are even greater.

Their senior nutrition sites receive partial funding from DETCOG, but with budget cuts Outreach Ministries still needs help. They currently serve 140 meals daily meals to senior citizens at their two nutrition sites and through their meals on wheels program.

At this time of year they are asking for help with providing heaters for the elderly, monetary contributions and support for children's Christmas presents. New unwrapped toys can be donated at the Shelbyville St. location and the Outreach also has Angel Trees set up at Bealls and in Walmart.

Guidelines for children to receive gifts include proof of household income, and proof the child lives in the household.

Deadline is Dec. 19.
