Timpson Youth Advisory Council Honors Mrs. Evelyn Tinsley

The Timpson Youth Advisory Council (YAC) officers selected Mrs. Evelyn Tinsley, a local 93 years old Silas resident, to become their newest YAC Advisor and awarded her an official YAC Advisor’s T-shirt. The 2014-15 Youth Advisory Council totals 60 members, who are all students at Timpson ISD. The YAC Mentors who presented Mrs. Tinsley with her Advisor’s T-shirt are as follows; Chase Lilly (YAC Mentor), Savannah Lindley (YAC Treasurer), Jesse Spruiell (YAC President), Ana DeLeon (YAC Mentor), Destiny Yarbrough (YAC Mentor), and Shelby Richey (YAC Mentor).

Mrs. Tinsley has been an active supporter of the Youth Advisory Council’s community activities and have encouraged the YAC members to maintain their core values of community service including personal responsibility, and setting a good example for others to follow.

The recent “Get To Know Texas A & M” college campus visit was financially sponsored by Mrs. Tinsley and the American Legion Post 90.  Mr. John Tinsley (Evelyn’s husband) graduated from Texas A & M in 1942 and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.  Over the past year, Mrs. Tinsley has volunteered her time to bake and help the American Legion Post 90 sell desert items to fund YAC activities. Some of those YAC activities include; a Video Game Tournament, the Youth Activity Day in SoSo Park, Garrison Nursing Home, and as mentioned, the Texas A&M College campus visit.

Mrs. Evelyn Tinsley is dearly loved by the Timpson Youth Advisory Council members and the other YAC Advisors; Vernett Richardson (Go Center Director), Charlotte Metcalf (High School Counselor), and Robin Conway (Coach/Teacher). The YAC and Advisors all look forward to seeing her at their next YAC event.
