Bear Hospitality – Timpson ISD Superintendent Mid Johnson recently received a note from the Fruitvale ISD Superintendent Jennifer Jones to thank the TISD students and staff for their hospitality to Fruitvale visitors at the Timpson vs. Fruitvale game this fall.  In the note Superintendent Jones said, “I want to personally thank you for the hospitality your Bear family showed our Bobcats.  What wonderful character and compassion you showed our team and fans.”  She went on to say, “A special thanks to the cheerleaders who cheered for us, the visiting team.”  The Fruitvale cheerleaders were at a volleyball game and could not be present for the game.  Superintendent Jones also expressed thanks for the free hot chocolate given fans saying it warmed their hearts.  Dr. Johnson appreciates Superintendent Jones for taking the time to write the note.  He believes it reflects the outstanding character of Timpson students, staff and community.

Bears Care – At Timpson ISD the staff provides a strong academic program, a comprehensive athletic and extracurricular program and opportunities for students to be involved in community service and leadership.

This year students have been involved in many community service activities.  Students on all three TISD campuses worked with the Timpson Chamber of Commerce to collect food for community residents in need during Thanksgiving.  All three campuses also participated in raising funds for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life.

The Youth Advisory Council sponsored by Vernett Richardson and Charlotte Metcalf assisted with the Veterans Day Program, presented a Veteran’s Day Program for Garrison Nursing Home and helped Woodland Christian Church with food distribution to those in need.

The Junior Chamber of Commerce members sponsored by Charlotte Metcalf are helping Ring the Bell for the Salvation Army’s annual project.

The FCCLA sponsored by Danielle Smith have participated in several community service projects including Alzheimer’s Awareness, Pink Pride game, American Cancer Society Great American Smoke-Out, Operation Christmas Child, Teens in the Driver Seat, collecting box tops for elementary school and collecting non-perishable food items for the local food pantry.

Timpson Elementary School counselor Tammy Sparks sponsors Agents for Change and this group will visit the nursing home to bring Christmas cheer to the residents.

Timpson ISD staff and students are proud to be a part of the Timpson community and want to continue to give back to those who serve them.
