Search process to begin for AD/head football coach at Center ISD, trustees to meet Thursday

The search process for a new Center ISD athletic director and head football coach will start taking shape at a special board of trustees meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Per the agenda, the board is to discuss procedures to appoint a special committee to assist with the search.

Superintendent Dr. James Hockenberry tells us he does not expect a committee to be appointed at the meeting, just a discussion on the procedures. He said after the committee is appointed and meets, a profile and timeline will be developed.

Dr. Hockenberry added he expects the appointment process of a committee can be completed by the first of February. He said he was confident that the AD/head football coaches’ opening will attract highly qualified candidates.

Former AD Kevin Goodwin resigned the position Nov. 21 after a separation agreement was accepted by the board. He was with the CISD six years.

Also, at Thursday's meeting, there will be school board training provided by Marvin Thompson of Region 7 Service Center, this includes Boardsmanship Basics 101 and Board Operation Protocols.
