Fuel prices continue downward trend heading into holiday season

Travel is expected to be up this Thanksgiving, thanks in large part to the drop in fuel prices, which has been almost double-digit in the past week.

According to gasbuddy.com, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Texas is averaging $2.57 a gallon, that's down nine cents in the past week.

In Louisiana, a gallon’s averaging $2.60, down eight cents in a week.

Nationally, the average is $2.80, which is six cents less than last week and 55 cents less from the same time a year ago.

Here at home, checking prices this morning in Center, it remains below the statewide average as the lowest we found was $2.55 at Wal-Mart, down seven cents in the past week.

By the way, that price is down over 30 cents in the past month.
