Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative experiences outages Thursday

There was a major power outage last night experienced by Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative that reportedly affected some 4,000 customers a little after 7 p.m.

Service was fully restored some 90 minutes later last night.

DETEC Communications Specialist Brittney Johnson tells us due to some projects that are being undertaken by the co-op’s power supplier; the San Augustine and Bronson substations are being served via an alternate transmission feed.

The outages experienced last night and even Thursday morning around 6 a.m. are being investigated by co-op crews, along with consulting engineers from the power supplier.

The power outage also affected our 92.5 KXXE transmitter in San Augustine, as listeners tuned in missed the first-half of the San Augustine playoff game.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
