JP orders dog in recent attack on child to be "put down"

The Pit Bulldog that attacked the Timpson area three-year old last month was ordered euphemized by Justice of the Peace Pct. 5 Jim Powers this week.

Sheriff Willis Blackwell tells us a hearing was held in Judge Powers’ court, no one showed, therefore the animal was ordered to be put down by a veterinarian.

The dog was taken from the scene of the attack in the Rose Hill Community after it mauled the youngster. The child was released from Texas Children’s Hospital a couple of weeks ago, and at last report was in foster care.

The parents, Leanne Fox and David Parks, both of Timpson were arrested and charged with Injury to a Child. Both have made $50,000 bond.

They were reported to be asleep when the child went outdoors and was attacked.

A third arrest was made in the incident when Thomas Chase Lee of Timpson was arreste for Tampering with Evidence. It's reported Lee removed the dog from the attack location.
