You're reminded of the "3-Ps" & elderly with below freezing temperatures expected tonight

Pets, pipes & plants, the "3-Ps" will need to be protected the next couple of nights as low temperatures are expected to drop well below seasonal normals.

Mid to upper 20s will no doubt bring with it needed protection from the cold.

Outside pets, especially dogs and cats should have a shelter from the freezing temps with good bedding and a heat source if possible.

Exposed water pipes and faucets should be wrapped with insulation, and air vents under pier-and-beam foundations should also be closed off until it warms.

As for plants, if you have foliage in pots or containers, take them inside the house or garage. If you can't take plants inside, cover with a blanket from the elements.

In addition, use caution with your heating devices and if you use a space heater or fireplace, stay aware of what objects are placed near an open flame.

For furnaces when they're turned on, make sure the pilot lights are lit and everything appears to be in working order.

Another reminder, check on your elderly family members and neighbors during cold weather to make sure they have a reliable heat source and are safe.
