Nacogdoches man dies in auto-pedestrian accident near Joaquin Wednesday

An auto-pedestrian accident on Hwy. 7 west of Joaquin, near Flat Fork Creek Wednesday afternoon has left a Nacogdoches man dead.

 

According to DPS Communications Lufkin, 34-year old Arthur Edward Rogers was standing outside a parked 2006 GMC pickup on the westbound lane, some four miles from Joaquin, when he was struck by an eastbound 2001 Ford Excursion SUV driven by 54-year old Sheila Dixon of Center.

 

he accident occurred at 3:40 p.m. and was investigated by DPS Trooper Dustin Ramos.

 

Apparently Ms. Dixon came across her lane of travel, struck Rogers and continued onward until she was stopped.

 

Arthur Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene by JP Pct. 3 Margie Anderson.

 

The incident continues under investigation, and it’s not known if any charges will be filed.

 

There are reports from family members that Ms. Dixon may have been suffering from a medical condition, as she was reported to be driving erratically by witnesses.
