Rider Dalton Horton makes history signing Div. I National Letter of Intent with TCU

A little history was made at Center High School yesterday when Roughrider Baseball pitcher Dalton Horton signed his National Letter of Intent to further his education and play baseball for nationally recognized program Texas Christian University. Before his teammates, coaches and family, the 6-5 left-hander "inked" with TCU and officially became a Horned Frog. Dalton said there's been a lot of hardwork to get to this point and said the moment was special as family, friends and teammates were on hand for the occasion.

Dalton's parents, Paul and Tara Horton said it was "a thrill of a lifetime" to have their son sign. It's been 37 years since a Roughrider Baseball player signed a Div. I National Letter of Intent, and Head Baseball Coach David Shepherd said the event is reflective upon the Rider program and where it's headed. He added it was a very special day in Dalton's career.

Dalton pitched a no-hitter last season and struck out a career high 20 batters in the no-no against Huntington. He thanked everyone for their support, and said his goal this season is for him and his Rider teammates to go out and win a state championship.
