UPDATE: Arrest made by sheriff's office in "complex investigation"

Last Friday we told you of multiple arrests by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department on warrants of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Aggravated Kidnapping, we have more information concerning the events.

 

According to Sheriff Willis Blackwell, the “complex investigation” began when deputies were dispatched to FM 711 last Tuesday evening in reference to an un-named assault victim walking down the road.

 

She was transferred by ACE EMS to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in San Augustine. It was determined she had been assaulted, bound and kidnapped.

 

On Wednesday, a “high risk” arrest warrant at a residence on Hwy. 96 north of Center was executed with 46-year old Stuart Bennett of Tenaha taken into custody for Aggravated Assault-Family Violence and then Aggravated Kidnapping and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.

 

Last Thursday, four Center individuals were arrested, 48-year old Mathew Lee Anderson, 53-year old Glenna Leah Benson, 20-year old Brittany Danielle Benson and 23-year old Craig Phillip Perez, all charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Aggravated Kidnapping.

 

Sheriff Blackwell said the more charges are pending as the investigation unfolds.
