Veterans to be recognized today by VFW, Ladies' Auxiliary, several programs on tap for Tuesday

Tuesday is Veterans' Day, and there are several events scheduled. However, today VFW Post 8904 and the Ladies Auxiliary will be involved in two events today.

 

At 10 a.m. this morning they will be at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Center to honor five veterans who are residents and at 2 p.m. this afternoon at Holiday Nursing Home to honor their 16 veterans. If you have family members at either location, you're invited to join them.

 

The Timpson ISD and Timpson American Legion Post 90 are sponsoring the Timpson Veterans' Day Celebration at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Timpson High School Gymnasium. All veterans, families and friends are invited. A luncheon for veterans and their spouses will be served in the high school library provided by the THS staff as a way to thank veterans for their service.

 

Joaquin ISD Veterans’ Day Program will be held Tuesday, November 11 in the JHS Gymnasium starting at 9:00am. All veterans and their families will be honored with a breakfast in the JHS Library following the program. VFW Post 8904 and Ladies Auxiliary will be on hand to announce the winner of the 2014-15 Voice of Democracy winner, who's from Joaquin.

 

Tenaha Schools invites all veterans and military personnel from all branches of the military to join them for their Veterans’ Day Program on Tuesday, November 11, at 9:30 a.m. in the school cafeteria. The program is being sponsored by the Tenaha High School BETA and Jr. BETA Clubs. Military family members and community members are invited. Refreshments will be served after the program.

 

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, The San Augustine VFW, American Legion and San Augustine High School will host a program in the school gym.

 

At 2 pm Tuesday, VFW Post 8904 and the Ladies Auxiliary will be at Center Elementary School joining Uncle Sam and over 600 kids in celebration of Veteran’s Day. Vice Principal Rick Baker is asking as many veterans possible to show up to be honored by the kids. If you are a veteran and have a child, grandchild, niece, nephew, cousin or any other relative that attends Center Elementary please join us and let your student show you off.

 

Panola College is hosting its second annual Veterans Day Dinner at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11 in the Ballroom of the Phoebe Sue Perlman Student Center. The dinner is free to all area veterans. Honorary speaker is Colonel Ron Franks. All veterans are invited to bring a guest. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with limited seating. You’re asked to RSVP by calling Ruth Brooks at 903-693-1183.
