Tied San Augustine ISD election depends on provisional ballots, Garrett takes 3-person race

A San Augustine ISD Board of Trustee election ended in a tie Tuesday and district officials, as well as San Augustine County Election's Administrator Deborah Woods tell us they'll know more next Monday, Nov. 10 when those voters that cast ballots "provisional" either come in with their IDs or not.

Ms. Woods was not sure how many of the "provisional" ballots she had pertained to the San Augustine ISD election particularly Position 3 where incumbent Ryan Garcia and Patricia McClure ended in a dead heat with 684 votes each.

Ms. Woods said if after Monday there's still a tie, there would likely be a re-count, then possibly a coin-flip if it's still knotted.

Also, Orvin Garrett has been declared the winner in the Position 5 San Augustine ISD board race after taking the most votes in a three-person field, despite not having a clear majority. Garrett tallied 47 percent of the vote.
