One of the biggest holiday shopping events of the year takes place in Center this Friday & Saturday as the third annual "Pinecone & Mistletoe" Christmas Shopping Extravaganza will be held at the Windham Civic Center.

Over 50 vendors will be featured. The event is sponsored by the William Carrol Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, who in turn award monies in scholarships.

Merle Howard is event chair-person, and says the chapter will give scholarships to granduating seniors from all five Shelby County high schools.

Ms. Howard said "Pinecone & Mistletoe" will have all sorts of Chirtmas gifts, pamper yourself gifts, bling, and accessories for the home and holiday snacks. Hours are 11 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $5, and you'll be registered for door prizes, and do not need to be present to win.

Children 5 and under are free.

Ms. Howard tells us that Santa will also be making an appearance on Saturday for pictures.
