Local Sports Round up 11/4/14; Lady Riders eliminated in volleyball playoffs, Dragons move up in state rankings

The Center Lady Rider volleyball team lost their bi-district match against Carthage last night in straight sets. The Lady Bulldogs take a 25-12 win in the first set, and come away with the second set, 25-6. Congratulations Lady Riders on a great season. Carthage advances to play the Fairfield/Gatesville winner in area.
 
Due to incoming inclement weather, the 2014 UIL Team Tennis State Tournament has been postponed. The Team Tennis State Tournament will be played Thursday and Friday, November 6-7 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center on the Texas A&M University campus. The Center Roughrider Tennis team will meet Abiliene Wylie at 8 a.m. Thursday morning in the 4A semifinals. The winner has the Wills Point-Fredericksburg winner in the 4A finals. Center is 13-2 on the season, while Abilene Wylie is 18-3.
 
The A.P. Texas High School Football rankings this week have the undefeated Shelbyville Dragons inching up to No. 11 in the Class 2A poll, with Tenaha holding steady at No. 15. Alto is No. 7 in the same poll.
