A two-vehicle accident in Shelby County, near the San Augustine County line just after midnight Monday has taken the life of a San Saba man.
According to DPS Communications, Lufkin, Corporal Jimmy Faulkner investigated the accident, and he reports that 44-year old Cory Stovall was northbound in a 2014 Dodge Caravan on U.S. Hwy. 96 when he reportedly drifted across his lane of traffic and struck a southbound 2010 International Tractor Trailer hauling wood chips head-on at 12:05 a.m.
The 18-wheeler was driven by 69-year old James Fuller of Jacksonville, who was uninjured.
It’s reported the tractor-trailer was engulfed in flames. Stovall was pronounced dead at the scene by JP Pct. 4 Larry “Dude” Jones.
