Little ghost and goblins will be out in force later this afternoon and this evening going door-to-door seeking treats from local homes.

County Extension Agent Jheri-Lynn McSwain says if you'll be out-and-about driving, keep these safety measures in mind:

Slow down. Watch for children walking on roads, medians and curbs.

Enter and exit driveways carefully; be alert for children darting out from parked vehicles and from behind bushes and shrubs; never drink and dive.

As a parent, accompany children at all times; teach children to "stop, look, left-right-left, and listen" before they cross the road; use a flashlight and wear retro-reflective strips or patches; be certain the mask does not obstruct vision; and make sure that costumes do not impede walking or driving ability.
