Center Broadcasting Co. stations taken off air by electrical contractor who fails to notify DETEC on Wednesday

Two of our Center Broadcasting Company stations were off the air for several hours Wednesday when Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative service was disconnected at our transmitter location on Hwy. 7 West by a contractor that failed to properly notify the co-op, and in return make us unaware the outage would take place.

DETEC Communications Specialist Brittney Johnson said even the co-op’s operations supervisor was unaware of the situation.

After some four hours of being off the air, Q-100 KQBB and 92.5 KXXE returned around 2:30 p.m.

Ms. Johnson said DETEC requested the power be restored, and advised the contractor that such projects must require notification to the co-op in order for them to notify their members.
