Nacogdoches businessman, Center native accepts five-year plea bargain

Nacogdoches businessman and Shelby County native, 59-year old William "Willie" Hudson accepted a plea bargain deal of five years deferred adjudication during a plea hearing Tuesday in Judge Ed Kline's 420th Judicial District Court.

The agreement is in connection to an incident in June in which Hudson is said to have assault a SFA employee and took the keys to his truck.

KTRE TV reports as part of the plea agreement, the initial charges of robbery and injury to an elderly or disabled person were dropped and a charge of unlawful restraint was added to take their place.

Court records say if Hudson stays out of trouble with the law for a five-year period, the charge will be dropped from his record.

Hudson is represented by Center attorney, and half-brother, Stephen Shires, who said in the report that the altercation started because the employee parked illegally and Hudson wanted him to wait for police to arrive.

As part of the plea bargain, Hudson will reportedly pay a $1,000 fine, do community service, and keep the strict bond conditions Judge Kline set in a previous hearing in August.

These include no contact of any means with numerous downtown Nacogdoches businesses, and limited travel on the downtown sidewalks to the immediate vicinity of his business, Nacogdoches Hardware & Rental.
