At the San Augustine County Commissioners’ Court meeting Tuesday, Commissioner Pct. 3 Joey Holloway was selected as the court's judge pro-tem.

In addition, commissioners accepted the resignation of Veterans Service Officer Jim Fowler. According to County Judge Sammye Johnson, Fowler resigned suddenly due to pressing personal family reasons. She added he did a great job and will be missed.

Judge Johnson added San Augustine County is working with another county to find an immediate veterans officer to fill the gap.

Also at yesterday’s meeting, it was revealed that Next Step Ministries is coming to San Augustine County in 2015.

Judge Johnson said Sheldon and Robyn Hardy of White Rock Baptist Church will start the multi-year project to serve the people of the county who are in need of help, with no financial cost to the county residents, just cooperation and participation.
