Shelby County Commissioners Court updated on grants, approves tax abatement for Port-A-Cool

At their meeting Monday the Shelby County Commissioners’ Court received a couple of grant funding updates, including word that the grant renewal for a cooperative working agreement between Shelby and Panola County for the 123rd Judicial District Adult Court for Fiscal Year 2015 was finalized. In addition, the Texas Homeland Security State Administrative Agency Monitoring Grant was approved for some $149,000 through DETCOG and Homeland Security for the purchase of digital radios for the sheriff’s office and probation department.

 

Shelby County Commissioners also approved the creation of a County Tax Reinvestment Zone and an 8-year sliding scale tax abatement agreement for Port-A-Cool as the company will be expanding its plant with the creation of up to 15 new jobs over the next three years.
