At their meeting Monday the Shelby County Commissioners’ Court received a couple of grant funding updates, including word that the grant renewal for a cooperative working agreement between Shelby and Panola County for the 123^rd Judicial District Adult Court for Fiscal Year 2015 was finalized. In addition, the Texas Homeland Security State Administrative Agency Monitoring Grant was approved for some $149,000 through DETCOG and Homeland Security for the purchase of digital radios for the sheriff’s office and probation department.

Shelby County Commissioners also approved the creation of a County Tax Reinvestment Zone and an 8-year sliding scale tax abatement agreement for Port-A-Cool as the company will be expanding its plant with the creation of up to 15 new jobs over the next three years.
