Cold front brings rains, wind and power outages to area

Another stormy Monday for the second week as a cold front has pushed through the area. We continue to have light rain through the afternoon, with rain chances going down from 100 percent to 70  percent early this evening. Temperatures have also cooled from 76 early this morning to current readings in the 60. The rains have been good, as Jim Forbes recorded over 2.25 as of late this morning.

 

The Shelby County Sheriff's office reports to road issues.

 

According to Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative, the storms passage resulted in 1500 members out of service with the majority in Shelby and Nacogdoches County. Crews have been working to restore power as safely and as quickly as possible.

As of lunch, DETEC had some 750 members out across the system with a majority were in Shelby County. A broken pole was also reported on FM 2026 (Folsom Chapel) among the issues.

 

DETEC Communications Specialist Brittney Johnson says high winds led to a majority of the outages.

 

 SWEPCO also had an outage in Center just before lunch, as some 500 customers were affected, including most of the downtown area. The power was restored in less than an hour.
