Local Sports Round up 10/8/14

All local high school football teams will be involved in district action this Friday night. The Center Roughriders will kick-off Dist. 6 4-A, Div. II in Longview at Spring Hill, and the Joaquin Rams go to the Shelbyville Dragons for the Dist. 10-2A, Div.I opener in our Shelby County Game of the Week on Q-100, KQBB. In addition, the Tenaha Tigers go to Maude, the Timpson Bears head to Mt. Enterprise, the San Augustine Wolves travel down to West Sabine, and the Garrison Bulldogs open district at Hemphill. Meanwhile, LaSalle will be in Logansport.

 

In sub-varsity football Thursday, the Center Middle School 7th and 8th Grade A&B teams will be playing in Longview Spring Hill. Both 7th and 8th Grade B Teams will begin at 4:30. The 7th and 8th Grade A teams will proceed as normal after the conclusion of the B teams.

 

The Center Freshmen and JV Roughriders will combine to play Longview Spring Hill at Roughrider Stadium on Thursday, October 9th. The game begins at 5:00 PM.

 

The Shelbyville Jr. High and JV will be at Joaquin starting at 5 p.m.

 

The Tenaha Junior High will host Maud Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m.

 

Timpson Jr. High will host Mt. Enterprise at 5:30 p.m.

 

San Augustine Jr. High and JV will hosts West Sabine

 

Hemphill Jr. High and JV will be in Garrison starting at 4:30 p.m.

 

According to Timpson ISD Girls' Athletic Coordinator Josuha Jourden, the Timpson Lady Bears had their first Highway Clean Up and Volleyball Play Day last Saturday. The day was deemed a great success. The Lady Bears headed to their adopted section of Highway 84. After cleaning, the Lady Bears, coaches, and parents who participated played volleyball and had lunch together. The Timpson ISD thanks those who participated and look forward to more opportunities to serve the Timpson Community.
