Stormy Monday brings good rain, power outages

After a stormy Monday morning, the National Weather Service is saying our rain chances will continue throughout the week, and increase by the weekend.

Another upper level storm system, similar to the one that came through yesterday will bring the threat of strong to severe thunderstorms with the possibility of heavy rainfall Friday night and Saturday.

Yesterday's storms brought some good rain in a short amount of time. Jim Forbes reports 1.10 inches in Center.

However, there were no reports of severe weather, and no confirmed reports of street flooding. We had reports of hail, primarily pea to dime size scattered throughout the area.

Jasper County did have a reported funnel cloud sighted around 9:30 a.m., but it never touched down.

Brittney Johnson with Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative says crews kicked off Monday morning with approximately 2000 reported storm related outages.

She noted the majority of these outages were in Shelby and Nacogdoches County.

By 11:30 yesterday morning, she said DETEC crews had restored power to most all customers.
