At CASA’s 5K Chicken Run Saturday morning at the East Texas Poultry Festival, there were 221 taking part in the event, with 16-year old Giovanni Angel of Center taking top male and overall winner with a time of 16:14.3; while the top female was 32-year old Summer Koltonski of Shelbyville with a time of 21:30.2.

The People’s Choice Awards were announced Friday for the poultry festival quilt show and photography shows. Taking the quilt show honor was Eldora Gilchrist of Center, and in the photography show, adult people’s choice winner was Janice Carter of San Augustine; youth, Carsen Vickers of Carthage; and children’s, Lance Holloway of Center.

Winner of the Center Noon Lions Club 2015 Jeep Sport Wrangler was Lee Lunsford of Spring, formerly of Center. The four $250 cash winners were Sherri Phillips, Courtney Miller, Lynda K. Russell and Reed Grant.
