Local Sports Round up 10/3/14; Joaquin at Timpson only Shelby County football game tonight

In sub-varsity football last night, the Center Jr. High Roughrider 7th and 8th grade teams both came up short against Rusk. The 7th grade lost, 6-12, and 8th grade lost, 8-12.

 

There’s only one high school varsity football game involving Shelby County teams tonight as the 2-2 Joaquin Rams will be at the 0-3 Timpson Bears in the final non-district tune-up for both teams. This will be our Shelby County Game of the Week on Q-100, KQBB as Don Wall has the action starting with the pre-game show at 7:20. The Logansport Tigers will travel to Ringgold tonight in their district opener.

 

Center, Tenaha, Shelbyville, San Augustine and Garrison all have open dates.

 

In other games tonight, Nacogdoches at Ennis, Lufkin vs. Whitehouse, West Sabine vs. Hull-Daisetta, and Hardin Jefferson at Tatum.

 

The SFA Lumberjacks are home Saturday to open Southland Conference play against Central Arkansas. Kick-off is 6 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium.

 

In volleyball, the Lady Riders are scheduled to be in Jasper for a 5 p.m. district match tomorrow, while the Timpson Lady Bears go to state-ranked Beckville in a district match starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

 

The 3rd annual CASA 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday morning in Center, and will begin at 7 a.m. with the walk, followed by the run at 7:30 a.m. For questions contact Patty Watkins at 936-591-9553.
