Storm spotter training session scheduled for Oct. 7 in Lufkin

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport will be conducting another SKYWARN storm spotter training session in Lufkin next Tuesday, October 7th, from 1-3pm at Lufkin City Hall.

This class is open to all citizens in Deep East Texas. SKYWARN is a storm spotter network group that works in conjunction with the National Weather Service offices around the country.

This class is free to the public and open to any and all individuals who would be willing to volunteer their time and have access to communication devices, such as a HAM radio.

Being a storm spotter is an invaluable service, as storm spotters offer an extra set of eyes and ears that give word on impending weather in the Piney Woods.

All emergency personnel and first responders would benefit greatly from this two hour course.
