Local Sports Round up 9/30/14; Tenaha drops in AP poll, Shelbyville now state-ranked

It’s Tuesday, and Don Wall’s Shelby County Coaches’ Show airs tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. on Q-100 KQBB and online at cbc-radio.com.

As expected, the Tenaha Tigers took a drop in the AP Texas High School Football Rankings released Monday. Tenaha is outside the Top 10 for the first time this season at No. 11, as Alto jumps six spots to No. 9 after their win over the Tigers. The Shelbyville Dragons are making some noise across the state as their 4-0 record has them coming in at No. 15 this week in the Class 2A poll. Refugio and Mart still hold down the top-two spots. In Class 3A, Cisco’s still No. 1, with Corrigan-Camden up a spot to No. 4, Kirbyville at No. 6, Waskom No. 9th, and Arp 14th Navasota still sits atop the 4A rankings, with Gilmer No. 3, Center district opponents Gladewater at 11th, Atlanta 12th,  and Tatum No. 20. In 5A, it’s Aledo at No. 1, with John Tyler 5th, Lufkin at 9th after losing to Nacogdoches, and speaking of the Golden Dragons, they’re No. 15 this week. Allen remains No. 1 in 6A.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has Tenaha falling from No. 1 to No. 9 this week in Class 2A Div. II. Bremond is the new No. 1 team in the poll, while Alto is No. 3 in the Div. I rankings.
