Zoey Stuever crowned Poultry Festival Queen, annual event kicks-off Thursday

The East Texas Poultry Festival activities continued last Saturday night with the annual Queen’s Scholarship Pageant, and crowned the 2014 Queen was Zoey Stuever, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Greg Stuever, and escorted by Nathan Stuever. She was crowned by 2013 Queen, Macayla Perry.

 

First runner up was Princess Julia Garcia, with Princess Macy Mayo 2nd runner up. Ten young ladies participated in the event.

 

Its East Texas Poultry Festival week in Shelby County as the 38th edition rolls out Thursday thru Saturday in downtown Center.

 

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday morning and sponsored by the Farmers State Bank. The program includes the “cutting of the feathers” by the 2014 Poultry Festival Queen & Court, presentations by local youngsters, followed by the opening of the food and arts & crafts booths.

 

The quilt show is being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day in the Historic Courthouse, and the photography show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Vision Source, next to the Rio Theatre.

 

The carnival will be operating, with arm bands $18 for all-u-can ride from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday. There’s also local entertainment throughout the festival.
