Two-vehicle accident takes life of one on Hwy. 84 between Tenaha & Joaquin

Center Broadcasting has received confirmation that one person has died at the scene of a two-vehicle addice this morning on Hwy. 84 near Paxton.

 

The following report is from the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department.

 

At 11:00 a.m. Thursday, the Joaquin Fire Department was dispatched to a major accident on Hwy. 84, just east of FM 699. Units arrived to find a pick-up truck that had collided with a tractor-trailer rig. The driver of the pick-up was deceased. At the request of DPS Trooper Jimmy Faulkner, the Joaquin VFD, with assistance from the Tenaha VFD, closed the road and secured the scene. After the victim was pronounce deceased by J.P. Precinct 4 Jim Powers, the Joaquin VFD used the Jaws-of-Life to remove the driver from the vehicle, with assistance from ACE EMS. Both fire departments remained on scene to maintain traffic control until the highway could be reopened.
