Poultry Festival kicks-off with Doo-Dah Parade & Chicken Cooking Contest, winners announced; Scholarship Pageant next up Saturday

The 38th East Texas Poultry Festival is a week away, but several kick-off events were held yesterday, and according to the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, here are the winners of the Doo-Dah Parade sponsored by Center Tire Co. and the Chicken Cooking Contest sponsored by Tyson Foods.

RESULTS:

 

1st Place - Rope 'em Riders

 

2nd Place - First Douglas Battery

 

3rd Place - Captain Jesse Amason

 

Winners may pick their trophy up at the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce office.

Men's Division:

 

1st Place - Will Lucas

 

2nd Place - Elliot Minshew

 

3rd Place - Nathan Phelps

 

Women's Division:

 

1st Place - Shelia Burch

 

2nd Place - Ashley Newton

 

3rd Place - Lila Akin

 

Youth Division:

 

1st Place - McKenna Williams

 

2nd Place - Jessica Johnson

 

3rd Place - Kelsie Waller and Asia Garrett 

 

 

The 38th East Texas Poultry Festival will be held Oct. 2-4 in Center.

 

The Queens Scholarship Pageant sponsored by AEP/SWEPCO is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday evening at Center High School Ten young princesses are vying for the title. Candidates include Alexis Byrd; Malory Nehring; Julia Garcia; Brylee Hendricks; Macy Mayo; Molly Runnels; Abbey Eddins; Jasa Rodgers; Blaire Deal and Zoey Stuever.

 

Crowning the winner will be the 2013 queen, Macayla Perry.
