Public hearing, adoption of new budget, tax rate and fees all part of Center City Council agenda today

The Center City Council has a pretty full agenda when they meet at 5 p.m. today.

 

Starting with a Public Hearing on Reinvestment Zone 14 at FM 699 and FM 2468; and then discussion and possible action on adoption of the Fiscal Year 2015 Budget of just over $10-million, and Tax Rate and Levy of $0.53 per $100 valuation; establishing the rates and fees for city water, sewer, garbage and other services of new fiscal year; creating and approving Reinvestment Zone 14 and then authorizing the tax abatement within the zone with Port-a-Cool; and amending Section 82 of the Code of Ordinances requiring remittance of hotel occupancy taxes.

 

In addition, authorizing an agreement for lease/purchase of Municipal Court Computer software system through the Court Technology Fund; approving ballot for Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; and approve event and partial closure of inside of courthouse square on Oct. 31 & Nov. 1. The request is being made by the congregation of Casa de Dios Pentecostal Church of Center.

 

The Center City Council is also expected to go into executive session to discuss with the city attorney a settlement agreement between the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the City of Center.
