Nacogdoches County Commissioners approve new budget, tax rate as judge cast deciding vote

Nacogdoches County Judge Mike Perry was forced to cast the deciding vote at yesterday's commissioners' court meeting on a new Fiscal Year 2014-15 budget and tax rate.

Judge Perry said as he was voting that he was not in favor of this budget or tax rate, noting he didn't want to have to start over the process.

Nacogdoches County's new tax rate will be a 2.47-cent tax increase.

An original motion for a 4.5-cent tax increase died for lack of a second in August.

The new tax rate for 2014-15 in Nacogdoches County will be $0.5290.
