Tenaha Cross Country teams compete at SFA Invitational

The Tenaha Cross Country teams started the season at the SFA Lumberjack Invitational meet on Saturday, September 6th at Pecan Park in Nacogdoches.

 

Tenaha ran 24 athletes, with over 20 schools represented; the Tenaha teams competed in 4 divisions, finishing 3rd in JV girls and 3rd in JV boys.  JV girls’ division was lead by Crystal McDonald finishing 10th in the 3200m, and Jordan Castillo finished 19th in JV boys 5k. 

 

Other runners contributing were Zoee Rogers, Brooke McClure, Bianca Davison, Selena Mendoza, and Ariday Hernandez.  The boys team members posting runs were Dylan Barbee, Rafael Loredo , Josue Vega, Abel Rodriguez, Adolpho  Reyes, and Roberto Flores.

 

 

The Jr. High boys’ team was lead by all rookie 7th graders, with Jesus Gonzalez finishing 20th place and Corey McDonald 28th, out of 89 runners, both finishing the 3200m at the 14 minute mark. 

 

Other first time participants were Zach Smith, Devin Wiley, Cooper Ward, Trevin Lampley, and Luke Linebarger.

 

In the Jr. High girls’ division, Rebekah Bridges captured the 3rd place spot for the 3200m, out of 103 runners.  Other participants were Anayeli Augilar and Araceli Vazquez.  

 

Coach Lauri Sisk stated, “This was an early season meet for our kids, and I was pleased with their beginning performances. We have a lot of work to do, and we have to get the miles in to improve.  This was the first cross country meet for 13 new runners, and now with our feet wet, we can dial in a plan for personal growth, and team building.”  The district meet is scheduled for October 22nd in Garrison.
