We told you yesterday that the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department was investigating a shooting that occurred at a residence in the Neuville Community late Sunday night.

We’ve received word this morning that the victim, 54-year old Jim William Burr, III of Shelbyville, passed away Monday afternoon after being life flighted to University Health Hospital in Shreveport.

Sheriff’s department Investigator Chad Brown said the incident took place at a residence on FM 417 around 10:30 p.m. and stated that witnesses are saying Burr shot himself.

An investigation continues.
