It's Football Time! High School season kicks-off tonight for local teams

High school football fans have been waiting 8 months for this day, as the season kicks-off tonight for teams across the state of Texas.

Center Broadcasting is proud to once again be the "Voice of Center Roughrider Football" as the Riders open the 2014 campaign on the road against Waskom. The Wildcats were state semi-finalist last season, and have been picked to win it all in Class 3A, Div. II.

Don Wall says the Riders have showed good signs on both sides of the ball heading into the opener. He noted defensively, Center has stepped up and not allowed much scoring in their two scrimmages.

Offensively the Riders are expected to highlight the throwing game, as QB Kyle Parks will have two prime targets in All-American Octavius Evans and Parks’ brother, Cameron Parks.

Catch all the Rider action on KDET online at cbc-radio.com and on 92.5 KXXE with Rob Payne and Chris Watlington starting their 21st season, along with the Rider Broadcast team beginning at 7 p.m.

Also tonight, our Shelby County Game of the Week gets started with a good intra-county rivalry as the state's No. 3 ranked team, the Tenaha Tigers go to the Joaquin Rams. There are new faces behind center for both teams and the Rams’ rushing game is highlighted by two 1,000+ yard rushers.

Leading the Tigers is QB T.J. Thomas, and the Rams' QB is Brock Lawson, and running backs Nate Belrose and Jonathan Rico will be in the backfield.

Don Wall will describe the Tenaha at Joaquin action on Q-100 KQBB, and online at cbc-radio.com.

In other area games, the Shelbyville Dragons go to Linden-Kildare; the Timpson Bears will be in Tyler to play All Saints Episcopal, and the San Augustine Wolves go to Garrison to play the Bulldogs. Also, Carthage at Hallsville and Kilgore at Nacogdoches, among others we'll be keeping tabs on tonight. The Logansport Tigers are playing in the DeSoto Parish Jamboree in Mansfield.
