When Nacogdoches County Commissioners meet today, they'll consider approving a four-and-a-half center tax increase. At a Budget workshop last Friday, commissioners debated whether to increase the rate to almost $.55 cents per $100 valuation, or if it should be raised by 2.5 cents with the remainder balanced by some of the county's $3.4 million in reserves. It's being reported if Nacogdoches County Commissioners raise it just beneath the rollback rate of $.55, the tax hike could generate around $1.27 million in additional property tax revenue for the 2014-15 Budget in Nacogdoches County.
